Trip Description

Nagarkot, an attractive village which lies about 27.5 km east of Kathmandu. Settled on the northeastern edge of Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot is famous for the picturesque scene which is popular among tourists for its outstanding sunrise and sunset views of the Himalayas. At the top of the village’s hills, there you can see a view tower, from where you can see the gorgeous snow-capped mountains on a clear day. Nagarkot has become renowned as one of the best places to see Mt. Everest including other snow-capped mountains of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal.

The one-way drive to 2 hrs long, so if you planned for a day tour then you have to start early morning. But not you are staying there for a day then you can go easily after your breakfast or excursion around Kathmandu valley. The route takes you to the way to the Bhaktapur following the Araniko Highway to Nagarkot.

The route takes you through highway so you can see houses on both side of the roads and when you reach Bhaktapur then there you can see fields too. You can also see the old structure of Newari houses, and beautiful lush-green rolling hills when you reach your destination.

Once you reach Nagarkot if it’s a day trip you can explore around the place, go to the view tower and get amazing views. If not then you might want to rest for the day following the long drive, plus there isn’t much to do at night because there is only jungle everywhere. After a good rest, early morning would be a great time to see the sunrise view.

After that, you can have your breakfast and you can have an excellent look at the Indravati River valley lies to the east. Nothing much to do there so you can see vegetations if interested.

Which vehicle suits for Nagarkot tour

Highways in Nepal aren’t always top-notch so a comfortable ride is a must. We suggest a sedan for up to 3 people, an SUV/jeep for up to 6, a Hiace up to 12 and a Sutlej/coaster for more than 12.
